El Franco, in general, and La Caridad, in particular, is an ideal municipality to live in due to the complete range of services it offers. El Franco has managed to maintain its easygoing spirit, reminiscent of a small rural village. The village is perfect for living, with all essential services close by such as a health centre, chemist, grocery shops, clothing and footwear shops, bars, restaurants, nursery and primary schools, adult day care and recreation centre, etc. It is a lively place throughout the year, however, although it gets busier in the summer.

El Franco is located on the Western Asturian Coast. Look at the sea and live the sea, which is why one of its most historic enclaves, the town and port of El Porto/Viavélez conserves all the seafaring flavour of the old Cantabrian ports. Strolling through the streets of El Porto/Viavélez is a continuous discovery that leads us to the supreme pleasure: the contemplation of the infinity of the ocean from privileged vantage points.

El Porto/Viavélez exudes romanticism like its favourite daughter, the great universal master of the romantic novel, Corin Tellado.

And that romanticism extends throughout the municipality, a territory where the coastal path, the Camino de Santiago, the Forge Museum,
or the streets and architecture of its capital, A Caridá, complete a picture of emotions, feelings and unique experiences in this ‘piece’ of coastline of western Asturias, dotted with amazing beaches.
