Natural environment and landscape
Colunga showcases a stunning natural setting, effortlessly accessible, and enhanced by a good internet connection.

Between the Cantabrian Sea and the Sierra del Sueve, in a fruitful strip of green land, lies Colunga. Millions and millions of years ago, dinosaurs roamed these lands and left us their memory in the form of ichnites. Their discovery turned the coast of Colunga into an international reference point for researchers and tourists and was the seed of the Jurassic Museum, located on the San Telmo rasa, which today is visited by thousands of people every year.
The beaches of La Griega, La Isla and La Espasa, among others, are classic summer resorts, and the fishing villages of Llastres, spectacular from the sea and from the land, with its architecture of terraced houses overlooking the sea, are one of the area’s tourist attractions.

It is important not to miss the historic centre of the capital of the council with its examples of Indian architecture, among others, and its references to illustrious figures such as the biochemist Grande Covián. the pre-Romanesque temple of Santiago de Gobiendes; the views from the chapel of San Roque in Llastres or the climb to the viewpoint of El Fito, in the heart of the Sierra del Sueve, are some of the places that no traveller should miss on their visit to Colunga.
