Located in the southeastern mountains of Asturias, Caso is a municipality that forms part of the Redes Natural Park. The park boasts a blend of picturesque spots and untamed flora and fauna. It is an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts who seek undisturbed places where preserving nature is highly valued. The locals also take pride in keeping their traditions and way of life. You can indulge in the exquisite gastronomy of meats and cheeses and enjoy the warm hospitality of the people of Caso.

A perfect municipality for any nature lover who is looking for places barely altered by the hands of man, where respect for nature itself is combined with the good work of the Casinos in their traditions and ways of life.

Its nature is so pure and wild that the whole municipality is a Natural Park, specifically Redes, which has also been declared a Biosphere Reserve and has the greatest vertebrate biodiversity in Asturias Such purity means that it has excellent hydrological reserves, to the point that it is in this territory, in one of its most charismatic villages, Tarna, where there is a mythical spring, that of the Nalona, and there, as a small stream, is born what will later become a great river, the Nalón, which has given so much life and history to Asturias. Such purity is also found in one of the most emblematic autochthonous breeds of Asturian livestock, the Casina.

Tañes – with its dammed Nalón -, Caliao, Bueres, etc. are names of villages and parishes that give character to a territory that also has peaks such as Tiatordos or gorges such as Arrudos, which bear witness to a rich orography and spectacular landscapes. And all of this in a sustainable framework, which has earned this council a sustainability award. As a culmination to so much native livestock and good pastures, a cheese with Designation of Origin that tastes like glory, the Casín.
