Bimenes stands out for its location in the heart of the Principality of Asturias.
We are seeking to settle and expand the population of the municipality.

Under the influence of the imposing Sierra de Peñamayor mountain range lies Bimenes, an ancient land where the geological wealth of Asturias once again comes to the surface in the form of coal. Its entrails are criss-crossed by rivers and streams, Bimenes once perfectly combined work in the mines with livestock and market gardening in small farms. And from time to time, a palace-house like the one in Martimporra, a monument to the miner like the one in San Julián, a house of Les radios like the one in Suares, or a Romanesque church like the one in Santa María also in Suares, or a route of the mills, which keeps the memory of so much corn milling as there was in the past in an area that today revives traditions like the ‘amagüestu’ or the ‘mayado’ of the apple, not in vain we are in the Region of the Cider.

Very sensitive to the Asturian socio-linguistic fact, Bimenes is a land of academics and writers in the Asturian language, who have been the driving force behind the declaration of Bable as an official language in the municipality and as an intangible value of Asturian culture.
